In this gothic tale of émigré fortune tellers in Belle Époque Paris, three fearless, gifted women fight for their home and family as they face the dark choices of their past. By day, Zina and her shifty grandmother, Baba Valya, run a tearoom in the Russian émigré community on Rue Daru in Paris. Come dusk, Samovar’s walls host séances for spirits as make-believe as the old country. At least, that is what Zina believes. Though she summons spirits, Baba Valya keeps everybody at arm’s length. Even Zina, who is desperate for answers about the untimely death of her mother, who her father was, and why Baba Valya left Russia. When Princess Olga arrives on Rue Daru looking for answers about her own father – the Grand Duke and uncle to the murdered last Tsar of Russia – she turns to the fortune tellers of Rue Daru for help. Though Baba Valya refuses, Zina secretly agrees. But when she conjures the real spirit of the Grand Duke, he starts to haunt Samovar, telling of his murder and her dead mother. And then the voices of the dead begin to whisper in the tearoom. Could they hold the answers Zina has been searching for?
