Why we started Wonder Books
Wonder Books started with a simple frustration: we couldn’t easily find the children’s books we wanted here in Cyprus.
After Brexit, ordering books from abroad could mean eye-watering postage costs. Locally, English-language books weren’t always easy to find online, and when we did find them, prices could sometimes be much higher than the recommended retail price.
So we thought: why can’t it be easier to buy great children’s books?
We wanted to create an online children’s bookshop for Cyprus that felt a little like an ethical version of Amazon: plenty of choice, fair and transparent pricing, and books that families can actually afford.
Books shouldn’t be a luxury.
We know how quickly the cost of raising children adds up.
And we also know that for some children, reading isn’t just a hobby – they absolutely love it.
We don’t want the price of a book to stand between a child and a story they can’t wait to read.
That’s why we work hard to keep our prices fair and transparent, offering books across different price points and avoiding unnecessary mark-ups. Wherever we can, we aim to keep our prices at or below the euro equivalent of the recommended retail price.

We choose books with little readers in mind.
We don’t just fill shelves. We look for stories that make us stop, smile, laugh, wonder and sometimes even see the world a little differently.
We try to offer a real mix – from beloved classics and beautiful picture books to funny stories, thoughtful books and new favourites you might not have discovered yet.
And yes, sometimes you can probably tell what kind of mood we’re in by the books we’ve ordered that week.
Because a great book can change a little world. ♡
Made by parents, for parents.
Between us, we have six children – so we know that parenting is wonderful, exhausting, expensive and occasionally completely chaotic.
We know what it’s like to juggle work, children, school, activities, meals, bedtime and approximately a million other things. We know that the village doesn’t always turn up when you need it.
That’s why so much of what we do comes back to one simple idea: make life a little easier, and make it worth it.
Whether that’s finding a brilliant book without having to search for hours, getting it to your door at a fair price, or giving children somewhere lovely to play and explore – we want families to feel that they’ve found something good.
We’re parents too. We get it. ♡

At Wonder & Play Café, you’ll find a lovely collection of books for younger children alongside a space designed for little ones to play, explore and have fun.
Many of the books you’ll find there are aimed at our youngest readers – and we think those books deserve a special mention. Picture books can be little works of art, and we love discovering beautiful stories that children can enjoy again and again.
